History: Was blooded in his early 20's and has never really been able to have a stable relationship so is always lonely. Was a Vampire General and his Military background led him to be stern and age has led him to be cynical. He was out of placement when he joined the Cirque and became a performer with his amazing spider named Madam Octa.*

Special Abilities:Vampires are strong, fit, and can run at a very high speed, called "flitting". Flitting causes a static charge to build up in a vampire's body, which Mr. Crepsley learned to use to force open locks. A vampire's senses are all superhuman. They can endure incredible amounts of physical trauma, are resistant to most chemicals and diseases, and heal quickly. A vampire's healing factor is not as effective as in most fiction, and, unlike the beautiful vampires of Anne Rice, most of Shan's vampires are heavily scarred and unattractive. More abilities include breathing an invisible gas that renders a human unconscious, telepathically communicating with other vampires and humans (Crepsley can also mentally command spiders), and locating vampires and humans whose thought patterns they have learned to recognize. Vampires cannot dematerialize into a mist, nor can they transform into bats, rats, or wolves. On the other hand, these animals are friendly to vampires, although cats and dogs hate them.

Personality: Cynical, Pessimistic, Loner but also very loyal and places Honour and Pride before his own life. Barely ever happy and has a short temper.
Appearance: Fire-coloured hair, looks in his early 40's with a large scar across the left of his face. Always wears Crimson robes with a cape.
Favourite Food: Likes most food, but bat broth does not agree with him.
Greatest Wish: For his death to be the very end
Biggest Fear: Reincarnation.

Madam Octa is Larten Crepsley's poisonous spider. Madam Octa is a telepathic spider, and can do many different tricks. She is highly intelligent and poisonous, she can even be trained to control how much poison she injects. She can live up to 30 years, according to the monk who sold it to Mr. Crepsley.

Larted Crepsley walked confidently onstage holding a square object wrapped in a grey cloth. He was wearing his favourite deep red shirt and trousers with a long crimson cape. He placed the box on the table and stepped forward. "Thank you ladies and gentlemen. I am so excited to be here in an anonymous small town that used to have character but is now just a bland suburb filled with chain stores and surrounded by slum." He paused to the awkward silence of the crowd, they hadn't yet registered the insult made to sound like a compliment. "I am Vur Horsten and tonight I will perform for you."

Larten was onstage with Madam Octa, he stood completely still with outstretched as she climbed onto his shoulders. Along his shoulders she crawled until she was at his fingertips. A fine string of silk trailed behined her as she descended from the fingertips and stopped, hanging from Larten's hand in the air. Crepsley began to swing his arm from left to right very delicately at first but increasing in force. In one motion he flicked his hand upwards and the audience gasped. Octa flew through the air then came down, landing in Crepsleys mouth. The audience were watching too intensely to make a single sound, they were barely breathing.
